12/26/91 — Our NICU Journey Day 40

December 26, 2010

Isaac — 573 grams

Molly — 708 grams

This was Ike's ISCU home. His name sign was completely covered with Post-It notes — notes from the day shift for the night shift, notes for the docs, notes for the respiratory therapists, notes for us, and notes about feeds, meds, tests and cultures.

Today is kind of a good news-bad news day — mostly good news. You have been on near room air and they restarted your feeds.  But be got a positive culture back from the 18th. But you’ve been nice and calm all day. Nana was right, you are losing your hair. Don’t worry, it will grow back.

You have had another good day. They have even gone so far as to take the ventilator away. They have also stopped your eye medicine today. You are now being feed once every three hours instead of every two hours, which lets you rest longer.
