2/22/92 — Our NICU Journey Day 98

February 22, 2011

Isaac — 1112 grams

Molly — 1464 grams

Here's Becky holding Ike on our big family room visit on Kenn's birthday.

Isaac

We had an exciting day today, Ike. To celebrate Daddy’s birthday, we took you and Molly down to the parents’ room with Nana, Ian and Becky. Everyone got to hold you. You did particularly well when Ian held you and you looked so cute together — two brothers. It was a male bonding kind of thing. It’s such fun to come visit you now. Even though you are still pretty little, we get to treat you like a big kid. We can hold you and rock you. I know you have missed being held. You have had to be left alone so much of your life, and I have missed holding you. But we’ll make up for it. I promise.

Molly

Today is your Daddy’s birthday and we all got a special treat. Your nurses (Lynn and Jill) packed you and Isaac up and we all got to go down to the parents’ room for the first time. Daddy and I were there, as well as Nana, Ian and Becky.  Becky got to hold you for the first time. I tried to breastfeed you again, but you really weren’t interested at all. Last night, one of your nurses, Valerie, put you in a baby swing for about three hours. She said you really loved it. You are consistently gaining weight, about 100 grams a week now, and I’m still hoping we can bring you home around the third week of March. It’s an exciting prospect. You were really supposed to be born on March 1, so you shouldn’t even be here yet.
