2/29/92 — Our NICU Journey Day 105

February 28, 2011

Isaac — 1272 grams

Molly — 1604 grams

Special bonus twofer today. You get two posts for the price of one because 1992 was a leap year and therefore had a February 29, while 2011's February is thankfully limited to only 28 days. Don't Isaac (l) and Molly look sweet snuggled together in the swing. At this stage, Isaac had a thing for sucking on Molly's fingers and thumbs. I guess because hers were bigger and more satisfying than his.

Isaac

Happy Leap Day. The month of February usually only has 28 eight days, but every four years they throw in an extra day just for fun. I think this year, we get an extra day for you and Molly to catch up. Your weight gains have been kind of wimpy the past couple of days, but you gained 161 grams over the past week, so I won’t complain. You are doing so well. I was a bit concerned that you have been kind of up on your Os (as high as 35 percent), but overall you are doing swell. I think you are such a wonderful boy. I can’t believe I have a son and that I’m so lucky that son is you. I look at your tiny little face and see the whole big person that you are stored up in that small body. You are a remarkable guy, Isaac Edward Bearman. Truly remarkable. Daddy held you and Molly together at the same time while he was feeding Molly. He’s pretty coordinated. I’m going to have to practice.

Molly

You had lots of visitors today. Nana, and Amy and Kenn Bakowski. Amy wants to have a baby and she got to hold you today for the first time. I think she liked it. You seemed to like it when she held you. It looks like you might have red hair. You are already beautiful. I can’t wait to see what you will look like as you grow up.

So cute all snuggled together. They’re still skinny enough to sit together in a single chair, but probably not as amicably.
