3/2/92 — Our NICU Journey Day 107

March 2, 2011

Isaac — 1295 grams

Molly — 1635 grams

This was so much fun for me — the very first time I gave Molly a bath. It was exactly leisurely tub time. We had to move pretty quickly so she wouldn't burn too many calories or lose too much body heat (thus, the attractive bathing cap), but I loved every minute of it. For such a little mite, she was incredibly strong, kicking her legs and trying to stand up. We learned later that she was a real water baby, snorkeling around an entire pool in mask, fins and snorkel at age four, but for now, it was just splashing in her little gray hospital tub.

Isaac

Good news! PT and OT say you are perfect, not even to worry about your foot. They raised your feeds today, too.

Molly

Molly, you are now ad lib demand. That means you can eat what you want when you want, so eat, grow and enjoy, little girl. They physical and occupational therapists say you are perfect, but we knew that all along. I gave you a real bath today for the first time. It was really fun. You are so strong. You kept trying to stand up. We are learning new things together every day.

Isn’t it nice that they let us do all these ‘normal’ mother things when we could? It’s all we had. I remember bathing Samantha for the first time…she pooped all over me and I was proud to wear that stain that day! Priceless picture Susan!

I loved every little mama-like thing. This was a huge step.
