3/19/92 — Our NICU Journey Day 124

March 19, 2011

Isaac — 1635 grams

Molly — not weighed

That's big brother Ian looking on as Ike's nurse (Karen) holds up what was supposed to be his going home outfit. It was still a little (OK, a lot) too big, but the grins on all of our faces as we prepared to bring the boy home could never be big enough. Molly, on the other hand, was causing us no end of worry. As my mom always says, if it's not one thing, it's your brother (or sister).

EAT! It’s not that tough. We are trying to be patient, but this is getting ridiculous.

I miss you, Molly. It seems so weird at home without you. You were just home for one week, but it’s your house and it’s not the same without you. You are still on the vent. Your rate is down to 10 and you have come way down on your Os, but you are still needing help. Every time they tried to wean you, you desatted bad. You just got some blood. You were very anemic. Nobody is quite sure what happened and that’s the scariest thing. Maybe you were positioned wrong in the car seat. Maybe you spit up a little and aspirated into your lungs. Maybe you were pooped out because you were so anemic. A lot of maybes, but no answers. Please get better soon and come home to us.
