3/28/92 — Preemies at Home, Day 1

March 28, 2011

This was our first real day at home, all of us together. Most people put out a welcome mat by their front door. We greeted our guests with this CAUTION! sign (note the capital letters and exclamation point!). Both our front and back  doors sported this red beauty, which was not exactly welcoming.

If you don’t know Kenn, read back and see how his strength got our family through our NICU days. Then read the nursing note below, which will explain a lot. If you do know Kenn, you will recognize that not much has changed. What would we do without him? (I welcome donations of alcohol and chocolate.)

On the other hand, it was Kenn who boxed and saved these home nursing notes and much of the paraphernalia surrounding Isaac and Molly’s preemiehood, and for that I am very grateful. I have updated several posts with our home nurses notes, so if you would like to catch up on what was happening, take a minute to read the updates on the following dates (especially 3/18 — the date Molly landed back in the hospital. The nurse called it “hair raising”.): 3/11, 3/12, 3/13, 3/16, 3/18, 3/26 and 3/27.

Home nursing notes:

Per Dad’s request, please protect handmade quilts with an infant blanket between twin and quilt. Also, be careful when rocking in rocking chair, as it tends to scoot back against heater baseboard.
