3/29/92 — Preemies at Home, Day 2

March 29, 2011

This is my mom feeding Ike. She had come to town for their homecoming, helping out over the weekend when we didn't have nursing. My parents lived about 300 miles away in Michigan and my mom still worked full time, so she came to visit when she could. This time, she flew alone, but usually she and my dad would take the drive together. Ian and Becky also came for the weekend to welcome Ike and Molly home.

Molly loved being back home and charmed the nurses by doing very little but eating and sleeping. Isaac, as you will read, was still making nurses crazy with his fussiness. We would find out later why he was so “utzi”, as some of the nurses said. For now, he just fussed.

Home nursing notes:

Well, I’m back and so is Molly. She looks great — very pink. I finally get both cuties. They really are adorable. Molly had a great night. Took Similac PO very well at 12 a.m. (90 ccs) and 4 a.m. (110 ccs). Otherwise slept all night — was grunting a lot, but never cried!

Ike is a different story. He was fussy from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.. Not really awake and alert, just fussy and occasionally crying. He was also fussy from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.. He took 50 ccs of breast milk at 2 a.m.; 20 ccs at 4 a.m.; 40 ccs at 6 a.m.

Both kiddos had loose stools. Thanks — Mary Kay

Grandma Pat looks great and is enjoying her grandchildren. I am sure it was great to finally get them home!
