4/1/92 — Preemies at Home, Day 5

April 1, 2011

As all the nurses have said, Ike was pretty fussy these days and only seemed happy when he was being held. An important thing to understand is that Ike being fussy was barely detectable unless you were standing right by the crib. He cry was very quiet, but he would turn very red, but didn't disrupt a household like a colicky baby with strong healthy lungs. The real issue was that his fussiness burned calories — calories he couldn't afford lose. For the most part, holding him as much as he wanted to be held was a joy for us, after all those months of only being able to stare at him through a plastic walls. By the way, I did not choose that hideous wallpaper. It came with the house.

Molly had a great day! She drank 255 ccs total. She didn’t cry at all today. A little angel.

Ike was very fussy. Surprise! But he did drink a total of 105 ccs for me. He just loves to be held, but he did have quite a bit of gas and two runny stools. He is going to see Dr. Lum tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. Have a great shift. — Alisa
