4/2/92 — Preemies at Home, Day 6

April 2, 2011

Isaac — 4 pounds, 1 ounce (1845 grams); height 16.5 inches

Molly — 5 pounds (2308 grams); height 17.75 inches

Today was Isaac and Molly first official visit with their new pediatrician, Dr. Lum. Both were put on iron and vitamin supplements. Dr. Lum thinks Ike might have an abdominal hernia. He does not yet exhibit a social smile, lifts head but not shoulders. He heard Molly’s heart murmur faintly. Both will continue on theophylline and oxygen, he wants to see them for a weight check in one week. They also received their next set of immunizations, DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus) and HIB (Haemophilus influenzae type b)

Home nursing notes:

Both had a fair day! Fussy at times, Ike became pale and dusky, at 3:00. I couldn’t get a good sat (not above 88), actually in the 70s. Dad concerned is concerned about the oxygen tank. I upped the oxygen and color improved. — Mary Kay
