4/3/92 — Preemies at Home, Day 7

April 3, 2011

Ike (l) and Molly snuggling together in the playpen. We set it up downstairs and used their portable oxygen tanks (you can see the little tails sticking out of the bottom of the blanket, which were the oxygen hoses). They liked to nap together. I think they kept each other warm. They weren't moving much yet, so we left the side down and a few toys in the corner of the playpen. Dr. Lum started Ike on Mylicon (an anti-gas medication) to see if would help calm his fussiness and help his calorie intake. This would be the first of many measures we took to try to get him to eat. In other news, we were preparing for the family to descend for Ian's upcoming bar mitzvah on April 11.

Home nursing notes:

Both Molly and Ike got their shots yesterday, so both ran low grade fevers. Molly, believe it or not, was the fussy one from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. She didn’t eat as well today as others, but maybe since she seems to feel better, she’ll eat this evening.

Ike (surprise) was very quiet today until about 2:30 p.m. The he decided to make up for it. He received Mylicon at 3 p.m. He ate well today! Have a great shift. —  Alisa
