4/11/92 (Day 147) — Preemies at Home, Day 15

April 11, 2011

It was a very Jewish weekend around our house. Ian, the newly minted bar mitzvah and official Jewish adult, held Isaac just before Ike's bris. A bris is usually held on the eighth day of life, but Isaac was much too fragile. Until five month's old, you can still have a home bris. If we would have had to wait another week, Ike would have had to be rehospitalized for the procedure, and we were not interested in more hospital stays, especially with Molly's heart surgery scheduled three days later.

Home nursing notes:

Ike and Molly both did well last night — slept until around 3:00 a.m., took formula/breast milk well. Molly was a little irritable from about 5:00 a.m. on. She’s taking bottles well, does not seem particularly labored and breath sounds are clear. O2 sat 93-94. Ike dry cough. — Deb

Uncle Robert (c) as godfather, with the mohel and another rabbi.
